A man from Chicago was arrested over the weekend, after threatening to kill a Centralia woman. 32-year-old Andrew Mattox was arrested on Friday for alleged armed robbery, unlawful restraint, domestic battery and aggravated assault. Reports say Mattox had traveled to Centralia to meet the woman, whom he met online. When she told Mattox she didn’t have money for him for him to get back to Chicago, he allegedly pulled out a knife and held it at her throat until she agreed to take out money from an ATM. Mattox also allegedly ordered the woman to stay in the passenger side of his truck, until he came back with something to kill her with. Mattox had taken the woman’s phone earlier, so she had to take the truck herself to the Police Department and report the incident. While she was reporting the incident to police, the department received a call from Mattox that his truck had been stolen. After question Mattox and watching housing authority video surveillance at the Maulding Drive Apartment, it appeared to support the woman’s story. Maddox was taken into custody, where he remains.
