A Centralia High School teacher is released, after posting his $1,000 bond, in connection to multiple drug related charges on early Monday morning. 62-year-old James White was initially arrested by Clinton County Sheriff’s Deputies at around 330am on Monday, on 2 counts of possession of a controlled substance and manufacturing with intent to deliver 10 to 30 grams of cannabis. White was formally charged later on Monday with Class 4 felony charges for possession of a controlled substance and a misdemeanor for possession of 10 to 30 grams of cannabis. His bail was set for $10,000, but which he was released after posting $1,000 cash bond. Illinois Statute does not classify cannabis as a controlled substance. White had his request for an appointment of a public defender was denied on Monday in court. His next scheduled appearance is set for July 24th for his status hearing. Centralia High School Superintendent Chuck Lane confirmed that White has been employed by CHS for 30 years and teaches Social Science at the school.
