Governor Bruce Rauner’s “body man,” which is a hand-picked assistant chosen to travel with the governor on a daily basis, was fired on Monday during his 1st day on the job. That firing was due to a series of homophobic and racially insensitive comments found on his Twitter Page. This exit is now one of at least 20 since last week, with Rauner firing rashly and having others resign in protest. Kyle Haevers was the governor’s “body man,” but he will be replaced by Ben Tracy. Tracy was chosen by the administration to replace Haevers. On Sunday, Haevers was told that his services were no longer needed, but, that he could choose to work for another state department. Some of the duties that a governor’s assistant or “body man,” includes traveling with the governor, taking pictures, collecting business cards and helping people connect with the governor. Some weeks, the assistant will work 7 days a week, depending on the schedule. Tracy was scheduled to attend both of the stops for Rauner in Mount Zion and Rockford on Monday.
