A man from Carbondale was arrested, after police responded to the 1st Bank on West Main Street on Monday. The original reports indicated that a bank robbery was in progress. Officers arrived to the bank at 130pm, when they stopped the suspect, who was leaving the scene in a flatbed truck. The driver, David Colon, was eventually detained. Apparently, Colon entered the bank to conduct a regular transaction, but he and the banker were having a dispute over the transaction. He then elected to enter the office of the manager to settle the dispute. Eventually, Colon detained the bank employee inside the office before he left the bank. He was stopped by officers shortly after leaving. While this was happening, the employee believed that Colon was armed with a concealed handgun. It was later determined that it was a taser. No injuries occurred from this incident and officers determined that this was not a robbery attempt. Colon was charged with unlawful restraint, unlawful use of weapons and disorderly conduct and sent to the Jackson County Jail.
