A Centralia resident is sentenced to 21 months in jail, after pleading guilty to DUI-related charges against him. 57-year-old Dickie Whipple was arrested back in January by Centralia Police, over his 6th DUI arrest. Whipple was also arrested in December, after his pick-up truck crashed into a residential home along East McCord Street in Centralia. The crash resulted in knocking a hole in the home’s foundation. Some of his charges included a Class X felony DUI, a Class 4 felony for driving while having a suspended or revoked license due to 4 to 9 prior DUI’s, a Class 2 felony for a 3rd DUI and a misdemeanor DUI. He was issued multiple traffic citations and have been in the Marion County Jail since his arrest. His bail was at $30,000. In connection to the open plea of guilt, the Class X felony and the misdemeanor were both dismissed. He was officially convicted of the Class 2 and 4 felonies. The sentence was for 1 year and 9 months or 21 months on each count. He was also ordered to pay over $1,000 in court costs. The last sentencing Whipple had was back in 2008, where he was ordered to 4 years in jail for having a DUI.
