The 28-year-old man, who is charged with the abduction of a University of Illinois scholar from China, has pleaded not guilty to the charges. Bredt Christensen is accused of kidnapping 26-year-old Yingying Zhang on June 9th in Urbana. It has been released that he is a recent graduate student in physics at the university. Under questioning on Thursday, Christensen revealed that he is taking Klonophin “as an anti-depressant.” Christensen also said that the medicine did not affect his ability to understand the charges against him. Investigators say that Zhang was abducted, after she left campus to go sign an apartment lease. They believe that Christensen lured her into his car, before they took off. Investigators also believe that Zhang is dead, even though no body has not been found. The judge set a trial date for Christensen in this case, for September 12th.
