Thousands of residents in our listening area woke up without power on Sunday morning, after violent storms passed through and brought down trees and power lines.  Sheets of rain left parts of our area with over 1-inch of rain, which fell in a short time just after 4 am Sunday.  Trees were brought down across roadways from the winds and made those roads impassable.  Winds reached approximately 70 miles-per-hour.  Ameren, Tri-County and public works departments were forced to continue their work well into the afternoon to help clear power lines and roadways, which had fallen trees to help restore power to utility customers.  Many yards and driveways for residents with limbs that had fallen down.  Power returned for most customers at around 945am.
