Firefighters in Centralia responded to an early morning fire on Saturday. According to a media release, the fire was believed to have been started at the Library Apartments, after an occupant attempted to use a stove burner to light their cigarette. They failed to turn off the burner, which subsequently set a pan of food on fire. Actual fire damage continued in that kitchen, but the rest of the apartment suffered minor smoke and water damage. The 2nd floor of the Library Apartments suffered minor smoke and water damage as well. The total damages were at $5,000 from the fire.
