One person dies after a rollover crash in Jackson County on Sunday night. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department stated that shortly before 8am, deputies responded to North Marion Street, just north of Carbondale, in regard to a crash with possible entrapment and injuries. When deputies and EMS staff arrived, an SUV was on its side on the east side of the street with an unresponsive woman inside. 1st responders took out the windshield and removed the woman from inside the vehicle. She was then taken to an area hospital, where she later died. Two other women were also inside the vehicle. They both were taken to an area hospital for treatment, with one transferred to a hospital in St. Louis for additional treatment. After an investigation, deputies learned that the SUV was heading north on North Marion Street, when the driver lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway and overturned into a bean field. The SUV had suffered major damage from the accident. The crash is currently still under investigation.
