A Centralia resident is charged, after an alleged attempt to steal a police car and for an assault to a police officer. 26-year-old Bryce McCray was arrested, after Police responded to his father’s home along East Cormick Street in Centralia on Tuesday. Once they arrived, McCray reportedly came out of the home, grabbed the handle of the officer’s pistol and ran to the car, got inside and locked the doors. He reportedly attempted to drive off with the cruiser, but the officer turned off the vehicle from his remote key fob. McCray then reportedly took a fighting stance against the officers and told them that he was going to kill them. He was then pepper-sprayed and taken into custody. He then reportedly became physically aggressive, after being transported to the police station, in which he had to be tasered at least a half-dozen times by officers, who were attempting to restrain him. McCray was ultimately taken to the Marion County Jail and was formally charged by the Marion County Court with a class 3 felony theft and a Class 4 felony for aggravated assault of a peace officer. His bail was set at $7,500 and he was ordered to have no contact with the home at 419 East Cormick Street in Centralia. His next scheduled appearance in court is scheduled for February 15th, with his court-appointed lawyer.
