A follow-up bill to Illinois and their school funding reform law is heading to the state Senate, after winning approval from members of the House. Reports indicate that state officials say that the measure is needed to ensure that money is properly distributed under the new plan. The House voted on Wednesday 76-in favor and 31-against. So far, funds have not been distributed under the new school funding law, since state education officials say that there are errors in the plan. Democratic state Representative Will Davis, of Homewood, says that legislation contains items that the state Board of Education says are necessary to implement, from last year’s school funding reform plan. The new plan sends most of the state money to school districts who need the most help.
