Two Mississippi residents were injured on Monday morning, after a single-vehicle crash along Interstate 57, just south of Salem. According to the Illinois State Police Department, at around 540am on Monday, 20-year-old Antario Miller was traveling northbound along I-57, when his vehicle left the west-side of the roadway and entered into the median. Miller apparently then over corrected, re-entered the northbound lanes and again ran off of the west-side of the interstate, where he eventually struck a guardrail. The vehicle then crossed northbound lanes and struck the side of a bridge, before coming to a stop. Miller and his 20-year-old passenger were both taken to an area hospital to treat their injuries. Miller got cited for improper lane usage, a citation for not wearing a seatbelt, along with charges of possession of less than 10 grams of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia. His passenger also got cited for not wearing a seat belt and for possession of less than 10 grams of cannabis.
