The Department of Corrections is being sued by a finance company, in regard to missing an annual payment on 4 prisoner transport buses. The lawsuit was filed on Thursday, by Wells Fargo Equipment Finance Incorporated. The lawsuit says that the state agency failed to pay for the buses, on a regular payment, last fall and did not meet the demands that the state turn must return the buses over to the company. The correction department spokeswoman, Lindsey Hess, says that the agency submitted a voucher for $580,000 payment to state Comptroller Susana Mendoza’s office back in January. The suit says that Illinois had been leasing the buses since 2014, under an agreement that calls for 4 annual lease payments of $580,000.
