The Kaskaskia College Board of Trustees met on Monday for a regular monthly meeting. KC signed an articulation agreement with Eastern Illinois University, where KC students who want to transfer to EIU can taek advantage of a new guaranteed admission agreement. KC and EIU formally signed a 2+2 articulation agreement, where a KC graduate can smoothly transfer into 5 of Eastern’s Bachelor of Arts Programs. That includes History, Psychology, Psychology, Sociology and Communication Studies. Articulation agreements are agreements with 4-year universities, where the transition to the new school is smooth with the associates degree from KC. Trustees also awarded bids for the replacement of the roofs, heating and AC units over the student cener, cafeteria kitchen, the Fine Arts wing and the Science and Technology Building. Kehrer Brothers Roofing won the bid for all the projects. Shores Builders was awarded the bid for renovating restrooms at the college, while Midwest Services Group will do the asbestos abatement. Keith Martin Incorporated will be in charge of renovations on the parking lot, roadway and side walk replacement at the main campus. In other business, Cosmetology Associate Professor Kelli Malone and Criminal Justice Associate Professor Ken Ingersoll were both promoted to full-time status. Professor of Nursing Kim Storm and Assistant Professor of HVAC Mark Kohnen were both promoted to Associate Professor. A lease agreement with Southern Illinois Case Coordination Services was also approved for the college’s former Workforce Center along 325 South Poplar Street in Centralia. 4 new certificates in the Early Childhood Education program was approved on Monday. The stackable certificates include Early Childhood Education Level 2 and Level 3, along with Infant Toddler Care Level 2 and 3 certificates are now going to be offered to students. Those certificates allow the student to have foundational coursework to prepare them to assume entry level jobs at an early childhood education center. Also approved was a portable x-ray machine from SSM Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, which will be used by the Radiology Technology Department. Approved was a bid from Dell, for a purchase of high performance computers and a small business network server, which will be used by student sin the Computer Information System Program. These computers will also be used by various office staff and facility.
