Bail is set at $50,000 to an Odin man on Wednesday, inside the Marion County Court, in regard to a Class X felony for armed robbery of a friend. 21-year-old Daniel Johnston and 3 others are accused of refusing to take an alleged victim to his home back on April 30th and forcing him to stay in the van against his will. The victim reportedly attempted to jump out of the van at one point, but he was forced back inside the vehicle and was pistol whipped. He was then driven to Salem, where he was forced to withdraw $100 and $500 from two different ATM machines. He was ultimately taken back home and was threatened to not contact police. The next day, he contacted law enforcement and was taken to an area hospital for treatment of head and jaw injuries. Johnston was then taken and arrested on multiple charges, after allegedly taking part in the robbery, where he robbed a friend on April 30th, where he held the victim against his will. Police found Johnston on Tuesday and charged him with aggravated robbery, aggravated assault, unlawful restraint, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon. The three other alleged subjects are still being sought at this time. Johnston will remain in jail until his preliminary hearing, which is scheduled for June 5th.
