A woman from Flora is facing multiple charges, after she allegedly scratched an officer back on May 15th, after 4 different complaints came in of her screaming obscenities. Flora police arrested 53-year-old Donna Phillips, after she allegedly scratched a responding officer and drew blood. Phillips is facing a Class 2 felony for aggravated battery to a peace officer and misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. Phillips was also discovered to have an active warrant out for her arrest in regard to a 2017 charge of driving under the influence and driving without any insurance. This was after officers responded to the multiple calls of her screaming for no reason. Reports say that when officers started to handcuff Phillips, she pulled away and, “grabbed one of the officers and dug her fingernails into his farm and hand, causing him to bleed.” According to the court records from Clay County, Phillips was charged with resisting arrest to a police officer back in July of 2016, which is on ongoing misdemeanor charge. She remained at the Clay County jail through Monday afternoon.
