23-year-old Gaege Bethune will begin his trial on murder charges, in regard to the killing of a 19-year-old Southern Illinois University student back in 2014. Bethune is scheduled to begin the trail on June 4th, after being charged in the death of 19-year-old Pravin Varughese. Varughese had his body found in a wooded area in Carbondale 5 days after he was reported missing. Bethune was arrested last year, after the victim’s mother was questioning the original findings from authorities, that stated her son died from being out in the cold for too long. She had a private autopsy done, which found injuries to his head and face. Bethune originally pled not guilty in the case, with the prosecutor saying that there will be no plea deal on the table. Bethune said that he does not want to pursue a deal, stating, “at this point, I do not believe there is anything to discuss.”
