The Okawville Village Board met for a regular monthly meeting this past Monday night. At the meeting, they approved 2 ordinances, which included ordinance 552 for the annual general fund appropriations and ordinance 553, which was the annual operation and maintenance appropriations fund. They also announced road closures for the upcoming Okawville Heritage Days Festival. The closures will be on Saturday June 9th and Sunday June 10th at West Walnut Street, from Front to Elkton Streets, West St. Louis Street, from Front to Franklin Streets, and Franklin Street, from West St. Louis to West High Streets. They also approved an excavating business to complete the Hanover Street exhaustion to Emanuel Drive and West Shoemaker. That will be 175 feet from Hanover Street and be at a cost of no more than $20,000. Rooter’s Asphalt was approved to do asphalt maintenance, sealing and stripping to the parking lots at the Senior Center and at the Fire House. That cost will not exceed $1,100. The Personnel Committee was also approved to hire the most qualified candidate to the Utility Superintendent position. Video gaming permits were also approved by the board on Monday, which included 5 each to Road Ranger, Max Convenience Store, Circle K, American Legion Post 233 and the Original Springs Hotel. Also 3 permits were given to CBI and the Plum Creek Golf Course. The next meeting for the Okawville Village Board will be on Monday, June 25th.
