The Nashville City Council met for a regular meeting last night. At that meeting, they approved to change officer Heinzel from full-time to part-time, with his full-time position being posted for advertisement. The council also approved an ordinance to change the zoning of the Howard property from R2 to B1, for lot 6 and 7 facing Adams Street. 2 employees were approved for hire inside the street department. Chad Malick and Cody Moore will become full-time employees for the city. Originally, the city only wanted 1 full-time employee and one part-time employee, but they elected to hire both full-time. A Backhoe purchase was approved last night as well, for a cost of $71,585 from Diedrich Implements. There were 4 other bidders that sent in a price. The city elected to table the potential purchase of a wheel loader. Two trucks were approved for purchase last night. The 1st one was for the sewer department for a 2018 regular cab pickup from Holzhauers for $22,609. The 2nd truck purchased was for the Gas Department supervisor, which was a quad cab pickup for $31,556 from Meier’s Chevrolet-Buick. The council voted to sponsor a hole at the 25th Annual Nashville Ladies Golf Scramble for a donation of $100. That golf tournament is scheduled for this upcoming Saturday. A potential phone purchase for the city from CTs and a purchase of a corporate credit card for the city were both tabled last night, for discussion next meeting. 149 residents used the recycling services, which accumulated 4.27-tons. Also 135 residents participated in the all trash days, which accumulated 120 cubic yards and 3-tons of steel recycled. The council also discussed a possibility of having the city garbage open on weekends, instead of having trash available to disposal from 6am to 230pm Monday through Friday. The council also agreed to donate $30,000 to the Nashville Library, to help them with salaries and for upgrades. This will be an annual donation, with the library accountable of using those funds towards the library. The next city council meeting in Nashville is scheduled for Thursday, June 21st.
