SSM Health in southern Illinois announces that the new president for the SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia will be Centralia native Damon Harbison as its new President. Harbison’s official tenure as President was made effective as of June 3rd. He was serving as the Interim President since February 26th of this year, after the retirement of John Sigsbury. Harbison was a graduate of Centralia High School and had worked as a food service worker at the hospital as one of his earliest jobs in life. His executive leadership in other places include leading the Greater Centralia Chamber of Commerce board and serving as the chairman of the Centralia Image Committee. Harbison has served as a senior leader for over 7 years at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, where he most recently served as the Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of Operations, since March 2012. His tenor at Cardinal Glennon went back as far as 2010, where he led operations and strategic initiatives for the hospital’s inpatient and ambulatory care services. He graded from Kaskaskia College, Washington University in St. Louis and SIU Edwardsville, where he received his MBA in 2004.
