Bail is set at $250,000, in regard to man from Mt. Vernon on Monday, who was charged with multiple counts of armed violence from an incident on Saturday night. 44-year-old Robbie “Shady” Hayes, of Mt. Vernon, was charged with 2 Class X felony counts of armed violence. Each count is punishable of between 6 to 30 years in jail, if convicted. According to the Jefferson County State’s Attorney, Hayes was armed with a knife on Saturday night, when he was involved with an altercation at the Bluford American Legion. The victim eventually had to be airlifted to a St. Louis area hospital, where he had surgery to a wound on his neck. He is in stable condition at this time from his injury. The 2 charges against Hayes alleges that he committed the armed violence in a public place and that the action caused great bodily damage. There was also video surveillance that was captured from the incident, so additional charges could be possible. Hayes has a history of criminal violence, including a conviction back in 2000 in Wayne County for armed violence.
