The Kaskaskia College Board of Trustees met on Monday for a regular monthly meeting. At the meeting, they approved a number of personnel moves, including multiple job classifications among employees. Julie Obermark was promoted to full dean of the Nursing and Health Sciences. She was promoted from being the associate dean of the department. Student Engagement Specialist Jordan Coffey was promoted to a new position as the Coordinator of Career Services and Student Engagement at KC. Stephanie Klie was hired on Monday as the new Assistant Professor of Business, after previously serving as a faculty member in KC’s Office Technology Program. Jane Hermann was reclassified from Director of the Physical Therapist Assistant Program to the Assistant Professor of the program. Nancy Matterson was reclassified from Accounts Receivable Coordinator to the Director of Student Accounts. Cheryl Twenhafel was promoted as the Assistant Director of Human Resources. The board approved in hiring Jill Hercules to be the college’s new Director of Human Resources. The college is now working with the Illinois Department of Corrections to resume their education services at the Centralia Correctional Center, since the budget impasse in Illinois has finally finished. The board also authorized the college administration to negotiate and enter into a new agreement through the 2020-2021 fiscal year. A 3-year license renewal with Blackboard Learning Management Systems for the college’s online program was approved. KC also wanted to announce that they will hold a tentative budget hearing on September 24th at 615pm, before the regular board meeting. Informational meeting will be held at various locations as well throughout the rest of this month, in regard to the college’s new after school college program. The program will offer college credit and free tuition to area high school students who are juniors and seniors. They will be at the Trenton Education Center tonight at 6pm, in Salem on Monday, July 30th, Vandalia Tuesday, July 31st, Greenville Wednesday August 1st and in Nashville on Thursday, August 2nd at 6pm at each location.
