A rash amount of vehicle thefts were reported in our area on Tuesday night, with between 6 to 10 vehicles being reported stolen from residential driveways. The Nashville Police Department assisted in attempting to stop several stolen vehicles on Tuesday, but were unsuccessful, due to the number of vehicles driving at a high rate of speed. Police are encouraging residents of Nashville and Washington County to lock up their vehicles, since vehicle thefts reportedly have been occurring in Washington County. If anyone sees anything suspicious and believe that it could be related to these vehicle thefts, please report it to your local law enforcement agency. Officers received reports of 2 or 3 suspicious SUVs in the area late on Tuesday night. Nashville Police attempted to pull them over, as they were traveling north on Route 127. Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies assisted, by placing spike strips on the road, but the vehicles were able to maneuver around them, and continue onto westbound I-64. The chase was eventually terminated, due to safety reasons. The SUVs were traveling at a dangerously high rate of speed. Vehicle owners are encouraged to keep their vehicles locked at all times and to never leave their keys inside the vehicle.
