The Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to 28 calls this past week. On Tuesday, August 7th, deputies responded to a single-vehicle accident along County Highway 10, near Elkton. 70-year-old Carl Hagene lost control of his vehicle and ended up in a ditch. No injuries were reported from this accident. On Thursday, August 9th, one man was arrested for driving while having a suspended license. 28-year-old Vincent Farmer of Mt. Vernon was arrested and cited for driving while having a suspended license, for speeding 11 miles over the speed limit and for having 2 active St. Clair County warrants. A traffic crash was call in on Saturday night, with deputies responding. There was a report of an accident along State Route 15, which eventually led to the arrest of 46-year-old Kevin Davenport of Marion, who was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and for improper lane usage. 43-year-old Valeriano Fernandez of Belleville was also arrested on Saturday, for having no valid driver’s license and for resisting or obstructing a peace officer. One was arrested on Sunday night by Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies. 32-year-old Alter Sawyer Jr. of Nashville was arrested for driving under the influence, operating an uninsured vehicle, illegal transportation of alcohol, failure to reduce speed and failure to wear a seatbelt after being involved in an accident.
