Bail is set for a man from Mt. Vernon for $250,000, in connection with a shooting on Saturday morning, which sent one to the hospital with a gunshot wound. 37-year-old Carlos Lewis was arrested by Mt. Vernon police, for charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated battery with a firearm and several other traffic violations. According to the Mt. Vernon Police Department, at around 243am on Saturday, they responded to a report of a shooting along the 400 block of South 17th Street. One person was suffering from non-life-threatening injuries, and had to be transported to an area hospital. Detectives arrived to the scene, with assistance from a Mt. Vernon Crime Scene Technician. Detectives identified Lewis as the person of interest, and were able to locate him and take him into custody during a traffic stop along 17th street and Veterans Memorial Drive. A search warrant was also conducted at Lewis’s residence, along the 1100 block of South 13th Street. After a further investigation, Lewis was placed under arrest and transported to the Jefferson County Jail.
