The Nashville High School Board of Education met last night for a regular meeting. At that meeting, it was announced that the district received their 1st payment from the state earlier this month, along with a title 1 payment from last year. The tax payment and the categorical payment have not been received at this time. It was announced that board member Ms. Ogrzewala will not be in charge of the concession stand for this upcoming track season, so those duties will be passed on to someone else. The $12,465 that has been raised by the Track Foundation was stashed to the school. The foundation has a payment each year of $1,500, with this money being saved over the past 15 to 20 years. The tentative budget for the 2018-2019 school year was approved, which will be on the NCHS website for all citizens to view until September 24th. The board approved an addition to the drainage system to add support and make it work better for a cost of around $1,850. There was an approval last night to purchase a new unit office copier, to help office personnel make fewer trips across the hallway, for a cost of $200 a month. The driver’s ed lease agreement with Meier’s Chevrolet Buick was approved for the use of one of their vehicles for $12.25. That price was increased by a quarter from last year. An energy contract with Homefield Energy was approved for 36 months, for a cost cheaper by 1-cent per kilowatt used last year. Substitute teachers at District 99 will be paid $80-per-day, up from $5 last year. There was also a discussion about stripping the track and resurfacing with new materials. The track is in its 19th season since work has been done underneath the asphalt, so the board is now going to look at updating the work. They gave the approval for Superintendent Brad Turner to look at possible bids and potential costs for the project. After meeting for closed session, they accepted the resignations of Evelyn Hankins as the Academic Enrichment Teacher, Lucas Giacomo as the Special Education Aide and Terry Disper as a High School Secretary. Dempsey Witte was approved as a new assistant girls track coach and the 2018-2019 dean of student’s contract was approved. The next board meeting for Nashville High School will be on Monday, September 24th at 6pm.
