The search for a new president at Southern Illinois University could possibly take a whole year, after there was a resignation to the previous leader. This was following a continuous dispute over shifting state funding between the campus in Edwardsville and in Carbondale. The Board of Trustees at SIU met in private session for nearly 3 hours on Tuesday, where they discussed on how they will replace former President Randy Dunn, who resigned from the position back in July of this year. Board chairwoman Amy Sholar, said that trustees will work with 2 consultants, but they will take their time on the search. Sholar says that she hopes that the new president will be in place before the start of the 2019 fall semester. Dunn was the target of criticism over his handling of a proposal to shift $5-million in state funding from the school’s Carbondale campus to the campus in Edwardsville.
