The Carbondale Police Department responded to a shooting early on Friday morning, with one man arrested. An officer heard and responded to the gunfire in the area of North Wall Street and East Oak Street. The report was from a resident along the 400 block of East Oak Street, stating that their home was struck by gunfire. After an investigation, officers identified the suspect as 25-year-old Traeshonne Blythe, of Carbondale. It was later determined that Blythe and an acquaintance, who was the occupant of the home, got into an argument, leading to the weapon being fired. Officers were able to locate and arrest Blythe at his nearby home, where he was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated discharge of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a felon. There were no injuries as a result of this incident, but Blythe was taken to the Jackson County Jail.
