A man from Carbondale is sentenced to 8-years in prison, after pleading guilty to an arson charge. Jackson County State’s Attorney Michael Carr, says that 60-year-old Valveeno Kendrick will also be serving 3 years of mandatory supervised release, after he is released from prison. Carr states that on June 2nd of this year, witnesses saw Kendrick use a lighter and ignite a piece of cardboard, then place it on a larger piece of cardboard near the door of a home along Monroe Street in Carbondale. The home did sustain some damage from the fire. The investigation was conducted by the Carbondale Police Department and the Carbondale Fire Department.
