The Nashville City Council met on Thursday last week for a regular meeting. At that meeting, they approved a motion to purchase a new squad car from either Meier’s Chevrolet or from Holzhauers. Police Chief Brian Fletcher stated that every other year the department purchases a car, where he found an Interceptor Sedan AWD with government pricing. The price of the car was just over $32,000, which comes with most of the equipment needed. The only thing needed is specialty equipment, which will come out of the DUI fund, with the rest of the equipment being taken out of the general fund. The street department was approved for a purchase of a wheel loader and tank. The lowest bid was from Diedrich Implements for a bid of $79,079. The cost for the tank will be $2,374. Both were approved by the council. Under water and sewer, a quote came in from Haier Plumbing to remove the existing 72-inch pipe culvert along Gardner Street, with 2 5-inch wide and 3-inch high concrete box culverts set side by side. The new box culvert would cause less chance of blockage and cost $37,000. The motion was approved by the council. A motion was made for J & R Appliances to install a new heater for the Water Plant for a cost of $17,980. The Water Plant clarifier room has been very problematic over the past few years, which has needed repairs on the units. The last bit of business for the Nashville City Council was by City Clerk Terrie Kurwicki. She announced that she is working on the Credit Card Policies for the city. At the next city council meeting, they will have a full policy in place for the credit card use by city heads, which hopefully will be voted on next month. The city of Nashville also wanted to announce that they will be having All Trash Days on Saturday, October 5th, Wednesday October 10th and Saturday October 13th. The recycling truck will be available on the October 5th All Trash Day, with citizens able to come in for trash dumping from 8am to 4pm all 3 days.
