The Illinois State Police Department responded to a single-vehicle accident this past Sunday, October 28th. 25-year-old Jerel Holmes of Du Quoin crashed at approximately 130am, traveling eastbound on Illinois Route 152 in Perry County, when his vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. After he struck the tree, his vehicle overturned and forced him to eject from the car. Holmes suffered serious injuries and was transported to a St. Louis area hospital. He was charged with two tickets for driving too fast under rainy conditions and for improper lane usage.
