The midterm election in Illinois is today. In Washington County multiple offices are up for grabs. For Sheriff, it is between Republican candidate Len Campbell and independent challenger Greg “Hoppy” Hopfinger. Also from the county board district 1 seat, which there are 2 spots, 3 people are on the ballot. That includes Republican Gary Suedmeyer and Eugene Lamczyk and Democrat Raymond Kostecki. Also for District 2 on the County Board, Alan Hohlt, Brian Klingenberg and Letisha Lueking are all seeking the 3 spots. Republicans David Meyer and Douglas Bening are on the ballot for the 2 seats on District 3. Other races that are unopposed includes Nancy Heseman for county clerk, Natalie Lynch for country treasurer and Sharon “Harre” Mewes for county assessor. For other local positions, it will be Incumbent John Shimkus going for another term on the 15th Congressional district of Illinois, going up against Democrat Kevin Gaithers. Jason Plummer and Brian Stout are both running for the state senator position for the 54th district in Illinois. Also State Representative Terri Bryant is seeking re-election against Democrat Marsha Griffin.
