Democrats inside the Illinois legislature has introduced 2 measures, that would expand abortion access inside the state, by removing a parental notification requirement and adding a ban on late-term abortions.  Reports from Chicago say that the proposed legislation was filed last week, with one bill repealing the state’s parental notice law, that requires minors to notify a legal guardian before having an abortion.  The other bill seeks to remove restricts on late-term abortions.  The 2nd proposal would also require private insurance companies in the state to cover abortions and allow advanced-practice nurses to perform the procedure.  A spokesman for Democratic Governor JB Pritzker says that he is an advocate for women’s rights and is looking forward to reviewing the bills.  Illinois Right to Life Executive Director May Kate Knorr says that these bills are extreme and irresponsible.
