The Nashville District 99 Board of Education met last night for a regular monthly meeting.  At the meeting, NCHS football head coach Steve Kozusek presented a proposal to build a new press box at the football field.  The press box would be 2 story’s high, approximately 26 feet tall with a 48 by 10 dimensions, and placed on the home side.  Coach Kozusek and some other associates have looked at other area high schools, specifically Carlyle High School, and how their press box was built.  The cost would range from $70,000 to $80,000 and it would be detached from the bleachers.  The new press would have an open area for all media personnel and for all in-game staff.  The opposing and visiting coaches and video operators would be on opposite sides from each other.  Money to pay for the project would go from the Dr. Goforth fund and from Friends of Hornet Football.  No action was taken on this project by board members.  Lots of business was approved last night, including the approval of the track resurfacing project, which was much cheaper than anticipated.  The board approved to spend $270,000 on the project, however, the lowest bid came from Midwest Track, who agreed to do the project for $152,302.  Also with the project, the starting line for the 100 meter dash and for the 110-meter hurdles would start on the home side of the field heading east.  The board approved to lease the ground from the Washington County Workshop and add the construction of new batting cages, with NCHS baseball coach Chad Malawy leading that project.  Also an out-of-state baseball trip was approved, with the Hornet team traveling to Grave County, Kentucky to play 2 varsity games on April 27th.  Graves County is located south of Paducah and near Murray, Kentucky.  The board approved to purchase a used 2010 Hyundai Odyssey for $9,000.  Also the district will be selling off midbus #1 and have a minimum sealed bid open to the public.  The band/chorus trip for the summer 2020 year to Disney World in Orlando was approved, which will be the 2nd week of June.  1st Midstate Inc. was approved to be the bond counselor for the district, along with the underwriter/placement agent and chapman for the district’s general obligation school bonds.  A hearing will be held on a later date for the district’s increase of working cash fund and on the district’s levy tax.  After meeting for closed session, the board approved Morgan Dodson and Dodie Langham as FFA Volunteers, along with substitute nurses for the high school while Melissa Harris is on maternity leave as the full-time nurse for the school.  Also prior to the meeting, a public hearing was held for a January 26th incident at the high school.  It was announced that William Lloyd will be banned from all high school event for one calendar year, starting on February 26th through February 26th, 2020.  Lloyd allegedly caused a scene during the Oakdale regional on January 26th, where he yelled at officials, coaches and players excessively.  He was kicked out of the game by another fan, and even though this was not a high school event, since the regional was at the school’s north gym, it was the district’s jurisdiction.  The next board meeting for NCHS will be on March 18th at 6pm.
