A man from Centralia was found fit to stand a regular trial, in regard to charges stemming from an incident this past summer, where he allegedly took police on a high-speed multi-county pursuit, along with firing shots at officers from Centralia and Du Quoin. 42-year-old Nathan Johnson was charged with half-a-dozen Class X felonies, in Washington and Perry counites, after he fired shots at police officers on August 2018 from his home in Centralia. He is currently being held on $6-million bond. He has $1-million bond in Washington County and a $5-million bond in Perry County. John is accused of taking Du Quoin police on a pursuit, where he reportedly fired shot at them and struck the police chief’s squad car. The pursuit continued into centralia, where he held off officers from multiple agencies in an hours-long standoff at his home along Irvington Road. He reportedly fired more shots at officers during the standoff and event struck one of the Centralia squad cars. He ultimately surrendered and was then taken into custody. He is scheduled for a final pre-trail hearing on April 2nd in Washington County and is set to have his jury trial on April 22nd.
