The Nashville High School District 99 Board of Education met last night for a regular monthly meeting.  Before the meeting started, a public hearing was held in regard to the health life safety bonds and the working cash fund bonds.  No one from the public asked any questions on these bonds, so they were approved.  the Life Safety bond was for $475,000 for the roof and track resurfacing projects, with the working cash fund bond being a maximum of $500,000.  During the treasurer’s report, it was announced that the district has received around 96-percent of their taxes.  In new business, approved included the IHSA renewal for next year, the 2019-2020 calendar and the 2019 NCHS summer camps.  For that calendar update, it now includes the parent/teacher conference at District 99 and an update on spring break next year.  It will be shorter than usual, with students off Good Friday and the Thursday prior, and returning that Monday.  Also Superintendent Brad Turner and the Transportation Committee were approved to initiate discussion to an extension on their transportation contracts.  Before the board met for closed session, Turner had a couple of announcements to make.  He stated that on April 9th, SAT testing will be done at the American Legion for Junior students, Senior’s will be having that day for college visits, and the Freshmen class will have their PSAT testing done at the school.  On April 23rd, SAT make ups will be done for any Juniors who were unable to take the test on the 9th.  Spring break for NCHS will be done April 17th through April 22nd, with students returning Tuesday the 23rd.  Students will be required to stay at the school for a full day on Tuesday April 16th.  Other important dates include Prom on May 4th and Graduation at 2pm on May 26th.  Students last day is expected to be on Wednesday, May 22nd, since the district has only used 3 emergency days.  After closed session, the board agreed to hire Jessica Spenner as a part time English teacher next year, along with a renewed 3-year contract for principal Mark Begando and Superintendent Brad Turner from July 1st, 2019 through June 30th, 2022.  The next board meeting for NCHS will be on April 15th.
