The Democrat signed the legislation on Friday, that will allow counties and municipalities to establish standards for developing wind farms. Townships will no longer have authority in this process. Pritzker says that the law will spur investment in rural areas, create jobs and pour 10s of millions of dollars into the pockets of landowners and farmers, along with government accounts in the form of property taxes. This measure was sponsored by Chicago Democrats Ann Williams and Bill Cunningham, with Cunningham saying that the law will, “end unnecessary government regulation,” in creating wind farms.
