NEW ATHENS, Ill. — Authorities are searching for a suspect involved in a deadly triple shooting Thursday in New Athens.

According to officials, three people were shot around 11:30 a.m. at a home in the 9300 block of Golden Rule Mine Road in New Athens. One of the victims died from their injuries. The other two victims were airlifted to an area hospital for treatment.

The incident reportedly began when a burglary in progress at the home was interrupted in the neighborhood that’s near Lenzburg.

Law enforcement is reportedly on the lookout for a blue Chevy Lumina with a yellow light on top in connection with the incident.
