Paul Leo Czerwinski, 82, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 5:35am on Sunday, November 6th, 2022 at White Oak Care Rehabilitation Center in Mount Vernon.

Paul was born October 18, 1940, in Scheller, Illinois to the late John Charles Sr. and Anna (Glupczynski) Czerwinski.

Paul married Janet Kay Czerwinski on Sept. 24, 1966, in Scheller. In addition to his beloved wife, Paul is survived by his sons, Jim (wife Angela) Czerwinski and Johnny Czerwinski of Scheller; Granddaughters, Sierra (Quinton) Kehrer of Waltonville, Jordan, Briley, and Avery Czerwinski of Scheller; Grandsons, Drexel and Sylas Czerwinski of Scheller, Illinois; Great Grandson, Browen Michael Kehrer of Waltonville; One brother Vic (Linda) Czerwinski of Centralia. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy (Kenny) Nehring of Dubois, Isabell (Len) Witges of Sesser, Evelyn (Jr) Spotanski and brother John Charles Czerwinski Jr of Scheller. Paul served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1966 and was a member of the American Legion Post 141 and Amvets. After the military, Paul worked at the Capital Bank building in Springfield as a security guard, at the Hollywood candy factory in Ashley, farmed for 20 years and worked at Joy Manufacturing for 23 years, where Paul retired as a supervisor. Paul also went to Rend Lake College for computer training. After retiring from Joy, Paul worked at Magnum Steel in Mt. Vernon. Paul loved to pitch softball, play golf and spend time with his family.

Paul will be cremated and there will be no visitation. Burial will be at Knob Prairie Cemetery in Waltonville, Illinois at a later date. Hughey Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Call Newell Funeral Home at 618-246-0100 or visit newellfuneralhome.com for further information.
