CENTRALIA — Rodney Carter Hanner,73, departed this life on January 2nd with family by his side.

He was born September 2, 1949, in Hillsboro, Il. The oldest son of Carter B. and Ruth Dahlberg Hanner. Married Sharon Uchitjil in 1971, and they later divorced but remained friends.

Survived by his four children: Julie (Hanner) Brimberry and husband Keith of Kell, Matthew Hanner and wife Paula of Lachen, Switzerland, Amanda Hanner and fiancé Josh Rials of Troy, Il. and Jacob Hanner and wife Tonya of Lerna, Il. Seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A sister Sheryl Goessling and husband Steven of Waterloo, Il. and a brother Jim of Mt. Vernon. Several nieces and nephews. As well as friends in Florida where he loved living.

Rodney proudly served in the U.S. Navy as both his parents had done. His service was spent aboard the USS Independence.

Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, older sister Dee Heinzmann and an infant grandson.

Per Rodney’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded, and Military Rites will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, January 15, 2023, at Hillcrest Lakeside Mausoleum Chapel in Centralia.
