MARION COUNTY — The Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in rural Kell after receiving a report of human bone possibly found.

According to Sheriff Kevin Cripps, deputies arrived and examined the bone before transporting it to the Champaign County Coroner’s Office early Monday morning where it was positively identified as human.

The Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigation Unit, Marion County Coroner’s Office and SAR K-9 C0-OP were called to assist the sheriff’s office with the investigation, which is active and ongoing.
