Zachary Michael “Zack” Ward, 27, of Bluford, Illinois, passed away at 6:44 pm May 4, 2023 at Saint Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, Missouri.

He was born December 15, 1995 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to David Ward and wife, Teresa and the late Cynthia (Aday) Ward Kirsch.

In addition to his father, Zack is survived by his grandmother, Donna Stephen of Creve Coeur, Missouri; brothers, Ethan Ward and wife, Miranda of Bluford, Tyler May and significant other, Whitney of Bluford, and Ryan Ward of Irvington, Illinois; sisters, Amy Wilson and significant other, Jeff Dees of Mount Vernon, Bethany Taylor and husband, Travis of Bluford, and Caitlyn Stout and significant other, Josh Bullington of Belle Rive, Illinois; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his mother, Zack was preceded in death by his grandparents.  Zack was a country boy at heart. He enjoyed fishing, taking care of animals, and just being outdoors any time he could. Zack loved his family dearly. Some of his best memories were the times he shared with his grandpa, Bill Ward. He helped him run the grocery store in Bluford when he was younger. In his older years, he carried on Bill’s memory by cooking some of his favorite recipes. Zack was a loving son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. He will be deeply missed.

A Visitation will be held Sunday, May 14, 2023 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 pm with Reverend Gary Davenport officiating. Interment will follow at Harmony Cemetery in Bluford. Memorials may be made in Zack’s honor to the Ward Family, in care of Amy Wilson.
