Strong thunderstorms moved through Illinois Thursday, downing trees, blowing over semis and knocking out power to thousands.

But despite the numerous warnings at watches issued for our listening area, much of it never materialized.

Fayette County and portions of northern Marion County received about 2 inches of rain along with some downed trees and power lines.

But the storms mostly dissipated as you head south, with Salem receiving around an inch and a half, Centralia about a half inch and no recordable rainfall as you reach Jefferson County.

However, Illinois State Police responded to I-57 near Tuscola after high winds rolled over multiple semis.

There is a second chance today for some rainfall, with some storms possibly becoming severe.

A heat advisory also remains in effect for the listening area until 8 o’clock tonight.
