FAIRFIELD, Ill. – A 19-year-old Fairfield man was killed early Saturday morning in a single-vehicle crash in Wayne County.

According to Illinois State Police, Logan Kreiter was traveling eastbound on Wayne County Road 925 N when for unknown reasons his 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee left the roadway, drove into the north ditch, and overturned multiple times before coming to rest in a field north of the roadway.

The Wayne County Coroner’s Office pronounced Kreiter dead at the scene.

The crash was reported just before 1 a.m. Saturday and remains under investigation. Kreiter was a volunteer firefighter with the Fairfield Rural Fire Department.

Logan joined the department as a Junior Firefighter while in high school and has continued to serve while attending college.
