CLAY COUNTY — A Clay County jury found a 42-year-old Xenia man guilty Monday of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl.

Jesse W. Goff was convicted of Class 1 felony Criminal Sexual Assault for incidents that took place between August and December 2019, while holding a position of trust, authority, or supervision of the minor. Goff was a volunteer firefighter with the Xenia Fire Protection District.

The victim in the case testified in the one-day trial Monday

Goff had been free on $20,000 cash bond in the case, but Judge Joel Powless ordered the bond revoked following Monday’s verdict and Goff was remanded into the custody of the Clay County Jail.

He faces between 4 and 15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections and will have to serve at least 85 percent of his sentence. He’s scheduled to be sentenced on September 18.
