FRANKLIN COUNTY — Authorities have released the identity of a man killed in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning on Interstate 57 in Franklin County.

According to reports, 55-year-old John Hogan of Tunnel Hill and formerly of Salem and Alma died from injuries he sustained in the crash that happened around 10 a.m. just north of Benton Wednesday.

State Police say the vehicle driven Hogan was northbound when it began changing lanes from left to right and struck the front driver side of a vehicle driven by 58-year-old Everett Leslie of Benton.

The impact caused Hogan to lose control of his vehicle which traveled down a slope and struck the ground.

Hogan was transported to an area hospital where he passed away from his injuries. A passenger in his car, 28-year-old Lucas Hogan, also of Tunnel Hill, and the other driver, were uninjured.
