JEFFERSON COUNTY — A 39-year-old Mt. Vernon man has been sentenced in Jefferson County Court to 18 years in prison after he was previously found guilty of being an armed habitual criminal.

Brandon L. Stallings was facing three Class X felony charges in Jefferson County Court of being an armed habitual criminal.

A search warrant was issued in January for Stallings’s home and resulted in police recovering firearms and ammunition.

He was free on bond in that case when he was arrested in Washington County on similar charges.

He will be tried on those charges in a bench trial Thursday in Washington County Court.

Court records indicate if Stallings is convicted in both cases, the sentences will be served concurrently.
