METROPOLIS — Metropolis Police are warning residents about a scam that has so far targeted seven churches in Metropolis.

Metropolis Police Chief Harry Masse posted on the police department’s Facebook page that the caller claims they are the pastor of the church and is asking the caller to be discreet in the request. The caller is asking for gift cards.

Chief Masse says if you receive this call, it’s probably a scam, so hang up.

If you believe it may be real, contact your church through your normal processes to verify.
