JACKSON COUNTY — A Carbondale man was sentenced in Jackson County Court Friday to 50 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for First-degree Murder stemming from the June 2022 death of his daughter.

Illinois State Police say on June 22, 2022, Carbondale Police requested ISP to assist with the investigation of an injured 3-year-old girl who was brought to a local hospital by her father, identified as 47-year-old Isaac Hill of Carbondale. The girl was later pronounced dead.

After a thorough investigation and collaborative effort by ISP investigators, Carbondale Police, the state Department of Children and Family Services, the Jackson County Coroner’s Office, and the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office, Hill was arrested.
