MARION COUNTY — Attorneys in the Marion County case charging a 30-year-old Salem woman with her boyfriend’s 2021 shooting death confirmed in court Thursday a February 12 jury trial setting in the case.

Christina Bartley was arrested more than a year after shooting 31-year-old Wesley Bivens in the home they shared in Salem.

She’s pleaded not guilty to the first-degree murder charge against her. Withers Broadcasting archives show she called 911 around 6:30 p.m. the evening of Thursday, April 15, 2021, to report her boyfriend was coming at her, and trying to hit her so she shot him. Early reports indicated surveillance video may have been available from inside the home.

Bartley wasn’t arrested and charged in the case until almost a year-and-a-half later.

Jury selection in the case is currently scheduled for the morning of February 12, with the trial expected to last five days.
